Symptom

You want to create Roundcube webmail filter rules to sort mails automatically into specific folders. When you open the filter rules configuration you see an error message “Could not connect to the sieve server”.

Solution

Roundcube sieve filter need the Dovecot IMAP server. On older Bitpalace shared webspace accounts we are using the highly reliable industry standard – Courier IMAP. Unfortunately, Courier IMAP does not support sieve filters, therefore Roundcube cannot use them.

We will be happy to migrate your web space account to a host on that a newer IMAP software is running, which enables Roundcube sieve filters. Please ask our support about migration.
